Went to NTUC this morning to buy a 1kg pack of self-raising flour as I plan to try my hands at baking cupcakes this afternoon.
Following the recipe at http://bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2331639/perfect-cupcakes, but halving the recipe and cutting down the sugar (by alot), I managed to mix up a pretty moist, fluffy and light batter.
Thought I was all ready to go, but after putting in the muffin cups in our cheap Sona brand oven, we got a power trip!
Didn't want that batter to go to waste, so we thought why not put inside our oven toaster and see what happens.
Turned out that though the top of tne muffins were charred, the insides were fluffy and nice to eat! I added too little sugar though so it was kind of tasteless. But luckily, I added in some raisins and prunes, so that made the cupcakes a little more tasty.
