iPhone home button repair

Got my iPhone home button replaced at “Ah Hao” last Wednesday.

Took almost an hour to replace as the iPhone is really a rather intricate gadget with many screws inside.  According to one repair shop guy I found on Facebook, in order to fix the iPhone home button, he would have to take out 40 over screws!  The same guy also told me he can finish this tedious job in 20 minutes for $50.

The 40 screws part sounded really arduous, but then again, 20 minutes to earn $50 is good earning!   I almost wanted to get him to repair my iPhone home button since I was getting really frustrated that I could not do screenshots with my iPhone.  But the repair guy said I need to bring over the phone to SENGKANG, and that put me off immediately, since I am really reluctant to travel to that area if I can avoid it.

Fortunately,  NRZ told me he knows a shop in West Coast which repairs the iPhone button as well, at $45.   Wow, not only cheaper, also nearer! Mai  tu liao!

So I decided to drop by West Coast to try my luck.  First, we took our lunch at the Muslim stall in the coffeeshop.  After our lunch, we proceeded to the shop he recommended.

At the shop, I handed over my iPhone to the repair guy and it was almost certain I would be getting my phone repaired there, except that the repair guy was busy with another phone and I had to wait for him to finish first.  But coincidentally, NRZ’s colleague passed by the shop and saw us.  He asked NRZ what we were doing there.  After NRZ explained to him, he whispered to NRZ that there is another shop in the market which was $10 cheaper.

Well since the repair guy at this shop had not started repairing my phone yet, and I know of another cheaper repair shop, I told NRZ, “Let’s go to the other shop!”.

And so we went to “Ah Hao” instead.

“Ah Hao” is a small shop located in West Coast Market opposite a seamstress shop.  My apologies I don’t have  the exact shop address for now as I dropped the namecard that I picked up from the shop that name.

Anyway, its manned by a Chinese PRC guy who is obviously “Ah Hao” and he is the guy who will repair the phone for customers.  He is assisted by a young lady who helps him attend to customers who buy phones.

Well, its about 5 days since that day, and so far, my iPhone is working good.  I sure hope it stays the same for the longest time!
